Running your own business is stressful and time consuming. There are so many things to consider and do. You have to get more sales, do your quotes, connect with your customers, create new products, and manage your in-house staff, keep on top of finances… then there’s maintaining your website, running your social media, planning and organsing special promotions, advertising, keeping on top of safety rules, filing GST returns… the list seems to be endless! It’s not a wonder you are having difficulty finding a balance between business and family.
It’s definitely not easy!
But it isn’t impossible. Being a business owner doesn’t mean burnt out is necessary. You can be on top of your game with the following tips.
Are you ready to be on top of your game?
Outsource as Much as Possible
You don’t have to do it all yourself. Outsource some of your tasks, like social media marketing, blog post writing, and email management. Tackle only the parts of the business that you’re specifically needed for.
Automate All the Rest
Technology is a wonderful thing. It allows you to automate so many parts of your business. This includes responding to some emails (especially when you’re away) and using social media tools if you don’t outsource. Setting up systems and processes with technology will also help to keep the work to a minimum.
Look After Yourself
Your business is nothing without you, but it needs you to be well and fit. That means focusing on your health and wellbeing as much as possible. Don’t skip the gym. Your work isn’t more important than sitting down and actually eating lunch. You do need to make time for your family or hobbies to support your mental health.
Remain Focused
Set up clear goals for your business. What do you want to achieve for the week, month, quarter, and year? Where do you want to be in five years time? Make sure everything you do is going to help you achieve those goals. If it doesn’t, it’s not necessary!
